Falklands' flock reaches 490.113; West Falkland produces more wool per sheep than in the East

By Sharon Jaffray - The Falkland Islands flock reached 490.113 sheep of which 281.671 in East Falkland and 177.506 in the West plus 30.936 in the outer islands, according to the latest Farming Statistics 2016/2017, in accordance with the Agricultural Returns Ordinance. Likewise the number of cattle was 3.433.

Falklands: Substantial progress with seal mitigation in Calamari fishery

Since the end of August, all Loligo trawlers were required to have seal exclusion devices (SEDs) in their trawls.

Malvinas Day will be remembered every 2 April in Puerto Argentino (Stanley), when sovereignty is recovered

The Argentine Senate has approved a bill establishing the Day of the Malvinas War Veteran and Fallen, which will be remembered every April 2nd in the Tierra del Fuego city of Puerto Argentino (Stanley, Falkland Islands), once sovereignty over the Islands is recovered. Until then the event will take place in the city of Ushuaia, capital of the Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands province.

Falklands at the Expo-Prado: Argentina makes official its disappointment to Uruguay

In a Sunday release the Argentine government regretted the presence of the Falkland Islands stand at the Prado agro-industry show which is taking place in Montevideo, and said it expects collaboration from the Uruguayan government.
