  Malcorra grateful to Panama for the standing and historic support in Malvinas sovereignty dispute

  

  Argentine foreign minister Susana Malcorra thanked her Panama peer Isabel de Saint Malo for the standing historic support from Panama to Argentina´s sovereignty claim over the Falkland/Malvinas Islands, (under UK control), and looked forward to strengthening the excellent bilateral relations, according to an official Wednesday release from San Martin Palace.

  Argentine Congress approves special pensions scheme for Malvinas veterans

  

  The Argentine Senate unanimously (58/58) passed a bill with a special pensions' scheme, described as exceptional and optional for those citizens who were involved in the Malvinas war. The vote was cheered by the veterans present at the session's discussion.

  Malcorra taunted in Congress over the UK/Argentina statement and South Atlantic chapter

  

  A leading ally of President Mauricio Macri's precarious coalition in Congress and chair of the Lower House Foreign Affairs committee, held another special session to address the September UK/Argentina Joint Statement, which she argues is not an “accord or treaty”, but nevertheless strongly questions the South Atlantic chapter which calls for lifting economic sanctions on Falklands' trade, fisheries, connectivity and oil development.

  Malvinas is no impediment for dealing with UK, but “Islands population can't be denied”

  

  The Malvinas sovereignty dispute should not be an impediment to advance in a pro-active agenda with the United Kingdom, and to progress in agreements to attract investors to Argentina, said foreign minister Susana Malcorra, who also admitted that it's not possible to deny the existence of the Malvinas inhabitants, “of which we have been distanced for too long”.

  Identification of Argentine soldiers' remains in Falklands: Geneva meeting in December

  

  Argentine and British diplomats will be meeting next 10 December in Geneva with the Red Cross to advance in the identification of the remains of 123 Argentine combatants buried at Darwin cemetery in the Falkland islands since 1982.

  Falklands/Malvinas: Ibero-American summit supports Argentine claim and calls for dialogue with UK

  

  Argentine foreign minister Susana Malcorra thanked countries attending the XXV IberoAmerian summit in Colombia for their support to Argentina's sovereignty claim over the Falklands/Malvinas Islands and the compliance of UN resolutions calling for dialogue with the UK. A brief release from the Argentine ministry said “we are grateful for the support we have received from the IberoAmerican space on the Malvinas question”.

  Argentina complains about UK military exercises in Falklands with missiles

  

  Argentina formally complained on Friday about military exercises with missiles that Britain is planning this month in the disputed Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. Argentina's foreign ministry said in a statement that it had sent a letter to the British ambassador Mark Kent demanding the country call off the “illegitimate” exercises, which are scheduled for Oct. 19-28 and include the launching of Rapier missiles.

  Falkland Islands produced 1.700 tons of wool, says 2015/16 Farming Statistics

  

  Falkland Islands farmers produced 1.7 million kilos of wool last year and also provided 44,000 sheep to the abattoir, according to the 2015/16 Farming Statistics recently compiled by the Department of Agriculture. This work was carried out by just 281 people recorded as living on the farms; 151 on the East, 105 on the West and just 25 scattered around the 11 farms on outer islands.

  Falklands' war: Israel sold weapons to Argentina during the conflict, say declassified documents

  

  The British Foreign Office has recently declassified documents that allegedly prove that Israel sold weapons to Argentina during the 1982 Falklands War between the Argentine military dictatorship and the UK.

  La Nacion attacked for publishing that La Sanmartiniana “is returning from Malvinas to Argentina”

  

  Buenos Aires daily La Nación is in the midst of a controversy and has suffered a barrage of criticisms following its announcement that the yacht “La Sanmartiniana”, closely linked to Kirchnerism militant activities, “currently in the Malvinas Islands will return to Argentina”.
