A former Member of the Falkland Islands elected Legislative Assembly and a Justice of the Peace for over 30 years, Islander Jan Cheek is to be awarded the MBE.
This week Falklands MLA Jan Cheek and Falklands Representative in London Sukey Cameron have been accompanied at the Conservative Conference in Manchester by Assistant Representative Michael Betts, and law student and former Falklands PR Manager Krysteen Ormond.
With the Labour party conference in Brighton behind, the Falkland Islands delegation will be moving on Saturday to Manchester for the Conservative party conference, which begins October first.

Commemorations are being held today in the Falkland Islands to mark the ending of the Falklands War, which ended 34 years ago after 74 days of Argentine occupation. Liberation Day as it is officially known in the Falklands is commemorated every year on the 14th June in the Islands and is a national holiday.
