  Falklands bound cargo unloaded at East Cove Port, following the FIPASS incident

  

  Unloading cargo in the Falkland Islands has had to be diverted following last week's incident at FIPASS, (Falklands Interim Port and Storage System) when a Spanish fishing vessel collided while berthing.

  Falklands/Sao Paulo weekly air link with stopover at Cordoba, officially authorized by Argentina: Decree 602/2019

  

  The Argentine government made official the authorization for a second weekly flight between the South American continent and the Falklands Islands, this time to Sao Paulo, Brazil with a stopover once a month, on both ways in the city of Cordoba. This means all is ready for the inauguration.

  Falklands/UK airbridge will continue via Cape Verde; Ascension runway may not be repaired until 2022

  

  The contract to repair the 3,000-meter runway at RAF Ascension Island has yet to be awarded, and work may not be complete until 2022. It has been partially closed since April 2017. This means the Falkland Islands/Brize Norton airbridge will continue to operate through Cape Verde.

  Falklands' Mare Harbour Ro-Ro facility upgraded for Point Class vessels

  

  UK/Dutch VolkerStevin was contracted for the of upgrading Mare Harbour in the Falkland Islands, a job which was completed six weeks ahead of schedule and within budget. The improvements to the roll on roll off jetty were part of a £19m contract with VolkerStevin for design and construction.

  Falklands' meat company enters contract to supply defense facilities at MPC/MPA

  

  The Falkland Islands Meat Company - FIMCo - has entered into a supply contract with Ecolog – a key provider for UK Ministry of Defense facilities at MPC/MPA, to provide their high-quality Falkland Islands meats. The contract is for five years, delivering beef, lamb and mutton to the MOD’s and Ecolog’s exacting standards of price, availability and - of course - quality.

  Falkland Islands joins RAF centenary celebrations

  

  The Falkland Islands also joined Royal Air Force centenary celebrations. Despite poor weather the hangar event held at Mount Pleasant Complex, MPC, to celebrate RAF 100 the Royal Air Force Centenary (April 1) “went off perfectly,” according to spokesperson for the event.
