  Ushuaia closes down as main gas pipeline suffers accidental rupture

  

  Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego was forced on Monday to close down government offices, suspend classes and impose a blackout rotation program following a serious leak from the natural gas pipeline which is the main source of power for the Argentine extreme south province capital.

  New Year greetings to Falkland Islanders from Tierra del Fuego governor, “your governor”

  

  Rosana Bertone, governor of Argentina's extreme south province, officially Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands, which obviously includes the Falklands, included in her New Year greetings a message to the Islanders calling for peace and understanding leaving aside fear and mistrust.

  DAP Airways opens summer link between Punta Arenas and Ushuaia

  

  Chilean privately owned DAP Airways inaugurated this week the link between Punta Arenas, extreme south of Chile and Ushuaia, capital of Argentine Tierra del Fuego, a flexible commercial service that includes two weekly flights during the summer season and with the main purpose of increasing connectivity in the region and favoring tourism.

  Falklands military exercises: Governor Bertone condemns “UK's bad faith”

  

  Argentine Tierra del Fuego governor Rosana Bertone joined the group of protestors condemning the military exercises, including launching of Rapier missiles, announced by British forces stationed in the Falkland Islands, and accused London of acting in “bad faith” just a few days after releasing a joint statement with Argentina to improve relations.

  Night of fire and violence in Ushuaia as protestors are evicted from Government House grounds

  

  Ushuaia suffered a night of violence, tear and pepper gas and fire when riot police dislodged an 80-day protest camp and tents of striking teachers and government employees next to Tierra del Fuego Government House. Seven people were reported injured including a policeman and a fireman, when tents were set on fire, and unions claimed it was a savage and brutal display of government repression

  Macri's ministers pledge not a single day rest in the fight for Malvinas sovereignty

  Falklands soil and pebbles were received by the Pope from Argentine governor

  

  Soil and pebbles from the Falkland Islands together with letters from Tierra del Fuego residents were received by Pope Francis during the recent visit of an Argentine delegation that included president Mauricio Macri, several ministers and three governors, one of them, Ms. Rosana Bertone from the most austral of Argentine provinces.
