    Buenos Aires cruise season takes off next Saturday; 320.000 visitors expected

    The Zaandam will be arriving in Buenos Aires on Saturday. The 2017/18 season is expected to last until 24 April 2018

    Next Saturday the Holland America cruise Zaandam is expected in Buenos Aires signaling the start of the 2017/18 season, which according to Argentine officials is going to be the best following on four years of sustained retraction. So far the number of docking requests include 110 calls with an estimated number of 320.000 visitors, although there are possibilities the final figure, by 24 April 2018, could reach 328.000.

    Argentine teenagers travel to Falklands in high school graduation trip

    The Ensenada group of students who are scheduled to arrive in the Falklands this Saturday.

    Eighteen Argentine high school graduates from a Catholic institution in the port-town of Ensenada, next to La Plata should be arriving in the Falkland Islands this Saturday after connecting with the LATAM flight in Rio Gallegos. The trip was planned and agreed two years ago and since then they have been collecting funds with different activities to make possible a lifetime's dream.

    UK tourism industry booming: 40 million overseas visitors during 2017

    Minister John Glen said record figures for overseas and domestic holidaymakers were “testament to our world-class attractions and innovation of our industry.”

    Tourism is booming in the UK with nearly 40 million overseas people expected to have visited the country during 2017 - a record figure. Tourist promotion agency VisitBritain forecasts overseas trips to the UK will increase 6% to 39.7 million with spending up 14% to £25.7bn this year. Britons are also holidaying at home in record numbers.

    LATAM non-stop flights between Santiago de Chile and Melbourne

    LATAM's flight LA804 will depart Melbourne at 7.55pm on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, arriving in Santiago at 7.00pm the same day.

    LATAM launched on 5 October non-stop flights between Melbourne and Santiago. The route will offer the only direct connection between Melbourne and Latin America and see three flights per week on a Boeing 787-9.

    Aerolineas Argentinas suspends flights to Venezuela because of security concerns

    Aerolineas Argentinas joins United, Delta, Avianca, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Aeromexico, Alitalia, Latam, Gol among others that no longer serve Venezuela

    Aerolineas Argentinas has become the latest carrier to suspend flights to Caracas. The company said it had concerns over security in Venezuela because of increasing criminal violence and political uncertainty. It joins dozens of airlines who have taken similar action.

    “The involvement of UNWTO, means we can assert that the whole world convenes in Mendoza to support tourism in Argentina” minister Gustavo Santos said.

    To highlight the relevance of wine and gastronomy as key components of tourism development, the 22nd UNWTO Global Conference on Wine Tourism was held in Mendoza, Argentina on 29-30 September. The Conference was co-organized by UNWTO and the Ministry of Tourism of Argentina, in collaboration with the Region of Mendoza and the Chamber of Tourism of Argentina.
