
The Falkland Islands government, FIG, has announced that as from the 1st July 2018, the landing fee for tourists arriving in Stanley shall increase from £21 to £25. The fee for those arriving into other destinations in the Islands shall remain at £7.50.

The boss of British Airways' parent company says that human error caused an IT meltdown that led to travel chaos for 75,000 passengers. Willie Walsh. chief executive of IAG, said an engineer disconnected a power supply, with the major damage caused by a surge when it was reconnected. He said there would now be an independent investigation to learn from the experience.

The International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) has announced the appointment of Dr. Damon Stanwell-Smith as Executive Director. Members of the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO) have agreed to develop a science based conservation plan for the Antarctic Peninsula in collaboration with the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) to support decision making for tourism management.

A new partnership between FIFA and the Qatar state-run airlines was announced. As part of the agreement Qatar Airways will be an Official Partner and the Official Airline for the world soccer body. The 2017 and 2021 Confederation Cups and the 2018 and 2022 World Cups are included in the partnership. The 2022 World Cup will be hosted by Qatar.
