    Falklands and bilateral agenda addressed by UK top official in Argentina

    The situation of forensic actions for the identification of Argentine combatants fallen who are buried in the Darwin cemetery, was also addressed in the meeting.

    The recently appointed UK Foreign Office Permanent Under Secretary and Head of the Diplomatic Service Sir Simon McDonald was received this week at the Argentine foreign ministry where he met with Deputy minister Carlos Foradori, and one of the several issues addressed was the forensic actions to help identify Argentine combatants buried at the Darwin cemetery, according to a release from Palacio San Martin.

    Built to CFL's specification by Nodosa Shipyard, in Marín, Galicia, the CFL Hunter will be fitted out in the next six months

    Falkland Islands Consolidated Fisheries Ltd. new longliner was launched in Spain last 20 July at an event attended by a number of CFL staff, directors, and Galician business people linked to the fishing industry.

    Falkland Islands' portfolio for Sir Alan Duncan

    Between 2010 and 2014, Sir Duncan was Minister of State for International Development. He held a long list of shadow cabinet jobs during Labour governments

    Alan Duncan KCMG MP has been appointed as Minister of State at the Foreign Office, responsible for Europe and the Americas. He replaces Hugo Swire MP, and will report to the new Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson. Sir Alan (59) remit will include NATO, the Americas, the Falklands, Gibraltar and polar regions.

    UK ambassador in Argentina presents credentials: new chapter in relations﹖

     Mark Andrew Geoffrey Kent formally presented copies of diplomatic credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Foradori. He is ex ambassador in Thailand

    Mark Kent, the new British Ambassador to Argentina formally presented copies of diplomatic credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Foradori last week, marking the start of a four-year stint as London’s representative in Buenos Aires. Kent, who was British Ambassador to Thailand from 2012 until April of this year, replaces John Freeman.

    Falklands: Le Boréal 2015 engine-room fire ignited by clogged fuel filter, says report

    The report says the fire in Le Boréal was due to a clogged fuel filter element, which was disassembled under pressure by a crewmember and thus started leaking fuel.

    French maritime authorities have released the engine room fire incident report of cruise Le Boreal on 17 November 2015, which forced the air evacuation of some 90 passengers and crew to the Falkland Islands, while the rest were transferred to her sister ship L'Áustral. According to the report the fire was due to a clogged fuel filter element, which was disassembled under pressure by a crewmember and thus started leaking fuel.

    Falkland Islands Government appoints Canadian Head of Policy

    Ms Simovic said she, “is excited to be starting a new chapter in the Falkland Islands and honoured to have the opportunity to serve the community.”

    Diane Simsovic has been announced as the new Head of Policy for the Falkland Islands Government. Simsovic is Canadian and has more than 35 years’ experience in the private and public sectors, with a background working at municipal, provincial and federal levels of Government, primarily focussing on economic development and growth. Ms Simsovic has also previously worked in environmental engineering and management consultancy.

    Falklands must be involved in a tripartite dialogue, if Argentina's new policy is to be positive

    “If you are willing to integrate the point of view of Falklanders, if they are part of any discussions relative to their lives and future, then this is positive”, said Picardo.

    Argentina's collaboration strategy towards the UK and the Falkland Islands, if it means integrating the Islanders in any discussions relative to their lives and future, which is only of their concern, “this is positive”, according to Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabian Picardo, interviewed by Argentina's official news agency Telam.

    Falklands attending OTs and UK ministerial meeting in Turks and Caicos: Brexit in the agenda

    MLA Roger Edwards is representing the Falklands at the  Pre-Joint Ministerial conference in the Caribbean Turks and Caicos islands.

    Economic, social, health and environmental issues, as well as the relationship between Overseas Territories (OT`s) and the United Kingdom, will be discussed at the upcoming Pre-Joint Ministerial conference to be held in the Caribbean Turks and Caicos islands. The Falkland Islands will be represented by MLA Roger Edwards and Gibraltar by Chief Minister Fabian Picardo.
