JetSMART offers ultra low rates for Santiago/Punta Arenas beginning 18 December

JetSMART, Chile's ultra low cost airline is planning to link Santiago with Punta Arenas as of next December, charging some 8.000 Chilean Pesos for each leg, plus boarding taxes, 15.500 Pesos, according to the company's CEO Estuardo Ortiz. The exchange rate is approx Pesos 600 to the US dollar.

Gibraltar Regiment officer assists training of Chilean UN force contingent

The Royal Gibraltar Regiment recently deployed one of its officers to Santiago in Chile. Major Timothy Cumming deployed from July 12/August 2 to Santiago to assist in the delivery of some critical Pre-Deployment Training (PDT). This training was delivered to members of the Chilean Armed Forces that were going to make up the latest United Nations Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) contingent.

Cruise 2017/18 season takes off in Punta Arenas with the “Stella Australis”

Chilean central bank revokes reciprocal credit line with Venezuela

Chile’s central bank said it had revoked a reciprocal credit line with its Venezuelan counterpart, citing what it called Venezuela’s failure to pay back its debts. In a statement, Chile’s central bank said it had notified Venezuela’s central bank and that the line would be cancelled within 10 days.

UK's Blue Belt Initiative taken as reference at the International Marine Protected Areas congress in Chile

The British Embassy in Santiago participated this month with over 30 British delegates and a GREAT-branded stand at Impac4, the world’s largest Congress on International Marine Protected Areas held in La Serena, a city located in the north of Chile. The Congress, hosted by the Chilean Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Environment, was followed by a High Level meeting in the city of Viña del Mar, near Santiago, Chile’s capital.
