    Russia has agreed to dispatch an oceanographic ship to Argentina in order to help with the search for the missing Argentine submarine, ARA San Juan, the Argentine Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday following a telephone conversation between Russian and Argentine presidents Vladimir Putin and Mauricio Macri.

    Russia gives Venezuela a hand and restructures US$ 3.15bn debt over a 10-year period

    Russian Finance Ministry said the restructuring should free up more funds to allow Venezuela to develop its economy and “will improve the debtor's payment ability”

    Russia and Venezuela signed a debt restructuring deal on Wednesday allowing Caracas to make “minimal” payments to Moscow in the next six years to help it meet obligations to other creditors, the Russian Finance Ministry said. Under the deal, Venezuela will pay Russia back a total of US$ 3.15 billion over a 10-year period, the ministry said.

    Russia commissions first of three nuclear powered icebreakers for Arktika Project

     Sibir has a displacement of 33,500 tons and is 173.3 meters long with a beam of 34 meters, and has a crew of 75. It is powered by two nuclear reactors of 175 MW.

    The first serially-produced Sibir nuclear-powered icebreaker, designed to reinforce Russia’s leadership in the Arctic, was commissioned last week at the Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg. It is one of the three vessels part of Project 22220 which are to become the world’s largest and most powerful nuclear icebreakers. The lead ship of the project, the Arktika, was commissioned last year.

    “The personnel of the US diplomatic missions in Russia will be cut by 755 people and will equal the number of Russian diplomatic personnel in the United States”

    Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a television interview that the U.S. must cut the size of its diplomatic force in his country by more than half, from about 1,210 to 455. Putin said on Sunday that the cut will make the size of the U.S. diplomatic mission in his country equal to that of Russia's diplomatic corps in the U.S.
