  Falklands: Argentina declares Italy's Edison oil activities 'illegal' and 'clandestine'

  

  The oil and gas operations being undertaken by Italy's Edison International S.p.A. on “the Argentine continental shelf” near the disputed Falkland Islands are “illegal” and “clandestine,” the Argentine Energy Ministry said Tuesday.

  Argentine presidential candidate Macri calls for the 'helpful vote' to defeat Kirchnerism

  

  Argentine conservative presidential candidate Mauricio Macri, which opinion polls have him as a solid runner up, has called on the 'helpful vote' arguing that third placed Sergio Massa, has “no chances of making it to a run-off”. The latest polls show incumbent Daniel Scioli with 37/38% of vote intention followed by Macri with 27/28% and Massa 20/21%.

  Scioli needs to convince some non-Peronist voters to reach the 'magic 40%'

  

  With less than three weeks to Argentina's presidential election, the government's candidate Daniel Scioli has chances of avoiding a runoff but he still needs a couple of points, according to Fabian Perechodnik, head of pollster Poliarquía. In Argentina the winning candidate needs 45% of the votes or 40% but with a ten-point difference over the runner up.

  Falklands' bound Argentine 'militant' yacht rescued abandoned by fisheries protection vessel

  

  An Argentine flagged yacht “La Sanmartiniana” belonging to a political group which responds to Argentine president Cristina Fernandez son, Maximo Kirchner, was detected abandoned in the high seas by the Falklands Islands Fisheries Protection Vessel, FPV Protegat and is being towed to Port Stanley, reports a release from the Falklands government.

  The Argentine government has declared “illegal” and “clandestine” the hydrocarbons' exploration activities carried out off the Falklands/Malvinas Islands by the Houston based Noble Falklands Limited company, according to a resolution by the country's Energy Office.

  “Malvinas Hall” in Comodoro Rivadavia recalls Air Force strikes command against UK Task Force

  

  The room in Comodoro Rivadavia from where the Argentine Air Force command operated its attacks on the Falkland Islands during the 1982 conflict has been renamed 'Malvinas Hall', and has been declared part of the city's heritage, a place where students and visitors can recall “the ever present Argentine claim over the Malvinas Islands, and the heroism of its pilots”.

  Ushuaia expects this cruise season 336 vessel calls and over 100.000 visitors

  

  Tierra del Fuego Tourism Institute (Infuetur), in extreme south Argentina, is expecting 25% more cruise visitors this 2015/16 season, most probably breaking the 100.000 milestone, with 336 calls involving 47 cruise vessels. The estimate is 112.170 passengers by April 2016, of which 79.486 non Antarctic and 36.684 Antarctic visitors.

  Argentina cancels $5.9bn Boden 2015 bond and issues new debt for $500m

  

  Argentina's central bank on Monday afternoon confirmed the 5.9 billion dollar payment Argentina was due to make ended successfully, adding “the level of reserves is enough for the execution of our exchange policy.”
