ARA San Juan: Judge of the case will have some 67.000 images of where the sub rests

The Argentine federal judge from Caleta Oliva in Patagonia, under whose jurisdiction the loss of the ARA San Juan occurred is expected in Buenos Aires to analyze a raft of some 67.000 images taken by the Seabed Constructor of the collapsed submersible. These include photos videos, taken by the US rescue company before leaving for South Africa.

Rhino poachers end up eaten by a pride of lions in South African game reserve

A shoe is all that is left of one of the poachers who broke into a South African game reserve to hunt rhinos, and ended up eaten by a pride of lions. At least three hunters are believed to have been devoured by the predators at the Sibuya Game Reserve near Kenton-on-Sea in Eastern Province, South Africa, earlier this week.

South African ruling party recalls president Zuma to step down

South Africa's ruling ANC party on Tuesday “recalled” scandal-tainted President Jacob Zuma from office but set no deadline for him to step down, pitching the country into further uncertainty. ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule told reporters that Zuma had “agreed in principle to resign” and had proposed leaving in three to six months -- a delay that the party rejected.

Royal Navy frigate sails World Cup Trophy into Cape Town

A British warship has proudly sailed into Cape Town carrying the Rugby World Cup Trophy – ahead of next year’s event being held in the UK. Even thick rain clouds could not prevent HMS Iron Duke displaying the gold of the Web Ellis Trophy on her deck as she arrived in the South African city for a short visit.

Atlantic patrol HMS Portland busy in Angola and South Africa

The Plymouth based frigate, HMS Portland currently deployed on South Atlantic tasking reached this week South Africa's Cape Town where she was involved in promoting Britain and in charity activities.
