  Royal Navy River-class offshore patrol vessel HMS Forth begins sea trials

  

  The British Royal Navy's Batch 2 River-class offshore patrol vessel (OPV) HMS Forth has commenced its first sea trials on the River Clyde. HMS Forth is the first of five new patrol ships of the same class being built to assist the navy in safeguarding fishing stocks, as well as protecting the Falkland Islands and their inhabitants.

  Falklands youths and adults learning ball hockey with Canadian coaches

  

  Experienced Canadian coaches Gary Slavin and Dave Weloy have made the journey across the globe to coach Falkland Islands youths and adults in the sport of ball hockey. Organized by Marcus Morrison, the trip was funded by the Shackleton Scholarship Quality of Life Awards, and the pair visit under the auspices of the International Street & Ball Hockey Federation.

  Falklands' Argentine cemetery DNAs “good quality” so far, says Red Cross

  

  About 50% of samples from exhumed remains of Argentine war dead buried in the Falkland Islands have been analyzed and all of them have provided good quality DNA, ICRC Operational Coordinator for Humanitarian Project Laurent Corbaz, stated this week. He provided an update on the work undertaken in recent months at the Argentine cemetery in Darwin.

  Premier Oil expects 2017 production in the range of 75.000/80.000 boepd

  

  Premier Oil has lifted its full-year production guidance as well as estimated resources at a huge oilfield it discovered off the coast of Mexico. Premier Oil, the operations of which stretch from Indonesia to the Falkland Islands, now expects 2017 production in the range of 75,000-80,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd), up from the previous forecast of 75,000 boepd, thanks to its strongly performing North Sea fields.

  Falklands: Premier Oil is asking for export funds to develop Sea Lion, reports Financial Times

  

  The Financial Times is reporting that Premier Oil is negotiating with the UK government about securing export finance to fund just over half of the US$1.5bn investment needed to develop a large oilfield in waters north of the Falkland Islands. If all works out as planned first oil in the Falklands would be in 2021.
