Argentine court rules phoning the Falklands is a domestic call and 50% cheaper

A local tribunal from the Argentine northern province of Jujuy (bordering Bolivia) ruled against the telephone company for having billed a call to the Falklands/Malvinas Islands as international, “instead of domestic”, adding the ruling must be published in the largest circulation provincial and national dailies, pointing out that the phone link with the Islands must be charged as a domestic long distance.

Falkland Islanders asked on proposals to recommend Marine Management Areas

Falkland Islanders are being asked to comment on proposals to recommend three Marine Management Areas (MMAs) to the Falkland Islands Government (FIG). These areas include some of the Falklands most pristine and vulnerable marine environments such as around Beauchêne Island and the Jason Islands archipelago, and include globally important populations of the Black-Browed Albatross and the Rockhopper penguin.

Falklands' government cautions FIH Group on changes in the company's control and its “beneficial interests”

The British financial media is reporting the existence of a letter sent by the government of the Falkland Islands to Falkland Islands Holdings group, which is in the midst of a controversial takeover bid dispute with an Argentine fund. Last month the Dolphin fund controlled by the Buenos Aires property developer Eduardo Elsztain said it was considering a bid for FIC’s Aim-listed parent FIH Group.

FIH independent directors still view Dolphin takeover approach as “unwelcome”

FIH Group PLC said on Monday it still views a potential takeover approach from Dolphin Fund Ltd as “unwelcome” and recommends an existing bid from Staunton Holdings Ltd.
