  Cephalopods numbers have increased over the last six decades, says Adelaide university study

  

  According to a new study published in the journal Current Biology, cephalopods’ numbers have increased in the world’s oceans over the past six decades. Cephalopods are a diverse group of highly developed mollusks that includes squid, cuttlefish, octopuses and nautiloids.

  Consumers want seafood traceability, according to survey commissioned by MSC

  

  The results of the latest market study commissioned by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) reveal an interest among consumers in seafood traceability. Surveys conducted among more than 16,000 seafood consumers globally indicate that over 55% do not trust the labeling of the seafood they consume. In Spain, this value is even higher: 61% of Spanish seafood consumers doubt whether the products they consume are what their packaging reads.

  South Atlantic poacher Hua Li 8, arrested by Indonesian for illegal fishing

  

  Almost two months of efforts coordinated by Interpol with the cooperation of seven countries on four continents, the Indonesian Armed Forces arrested one of the most wanted poaching fishing vessels. On January 29, the Chinese flagged Hua Li 8 was detected fishing within the EEZ of Argentina, which triggered an immediate operation to arrest the vessel. But despite the display of patrol vessels and aircrafts, and warning shots, the vessel managed to escape.
